At this 14th plenary meeting, our aim is to advance the UITP Para-transit Working Group's work plan and introduce a new area for discussion: the dialogue between manufacturers and authorities.
Our primary focus is on transformation processes and models within the para-transit sector.
- In our previous meeting, we had a high-level presentation on transformation processes, where we discussed the shift from one equilibrium to another.
- In this meeting, we aim to focus on and question the role or position of technology in a transformative process. Often considered the endpoint, technology should instead be viewed as a tool that facilitates transformative journeys.
Our goal, therefore, is to discuss and exchange ideas on how to leverage technology to support the transformation towards a greener, safer, more operationally efficient, and people-centric sector. These sessions are designed to support the Work Programme and cater to the needs of both technology users (authorities, operators) and providers (manufacturers). To achieve this, we propose planning the day as follows:
- A workshop focusing on the critical issue of assessing certain aspects of the sector's
carbon footprint;
- Two sessions focused on transformation processes within the paratransit sector,
with an emphasis on technologies and behaviours to green the fleet and improve
road safety;
- A roundtable for members to share the latest updates.
A technical visit and a presentation on the transport context in Cairo will also be
organised.
A cultural visit is scheduled for Friday, 1st November 2024.
