We are excited to announce the joint Building Feminist Cities and Women and Transport Africa Conference dedicated to fostering inclusive and equitable urban environments and public transport.

Women and Transport Africa x Building Feminist Cities Conference

The Women and Transport Africa Conference celebrates its fifth year alongside Flone’s 10th Anniversary in Nairobi, Kenya. This hybrid conference seeks to spotlight new research, interventions and trends in inclusive mobility across Africa, acknowledging the experiences of vulnerable groups, sharing best practises, and providing networking opportunities to stakeholders. This conference offers a unique gathering of catalytic change-makers that will bring together leaders and pioneers from research, practitioners, government and the non-profit sector to move forward specific and tangible ideas towards action.

"Building Feminist Cities" was initiated and piloted during a successful workshop held in Delhi, India, co-hosted by WMW and Safetipin. This event series aims to cultivate a diverse, global community committed to constructing more feminist, resilient, and adaptable transport systems capable of addressing increasing societal and climate shocks. After successful workshops in Manila, Philippines and Sao Paulo, Brazil in 2024, the event series continues together with Flone initiative’s Women and Transport Africa conference in Nairobi, Africa. The Flone Initiative’s collaboration with Women Mobilize Women marks a significant step towards our shared vision of empowering women and promoting gender equity and inclusion in transportation and urban planning.
