The Walk - Mumbai
This video is an attempt to reveal the everyday movement of a commuter seen across a station complex in the Mumbai metropolitan region. The video study is located in the Nalasopara railway station complex, looking at the current landscape of vendors and informal transportation forming an ecosystem of services for the inhabitants of the neighbourhood.
The research is part of an international program, and Society for the Promotion of Area Resource Centers (SPARC) aims to establish a Living Lab for holistic engagement in informal and shared mobility along with on-ground NGO partner Youth for Unity and Voluntary Action (YUVA).
This research is funded by VREF Volvo Research and Educational Foundations. The network brings together seven localised teams in Accra/Kumasi, Bangkok, Beijing, Bogota, Cape Town, Mumbai, and San Jose (CR). This initiative is facilitated by Columbia Climate School (Center for Sustainable Urban Development), World Resources Institute, and Shared-Use Mobility Center (Global Network for Popular Transport).
